"The history of Mövenpick ice cream dates back to 1961. At the beginning, Mövenpick ice cream was produced in restaurants only. The basis of a soon-to-become famous product was, and still is, made of the finest ingredients such as fresh cream, vanilla and egg yolk. Its huge success eventually called for a centralised production and in 1972 already, a plant was put on stream in Bursins, Switzerland. Still as creative as they were in their early days, Mövenpick’s ice cream chefs thought of adding small pieces of selected ingredients and sauces. "The Mövenpick saga began in 1972 with a
strict charter prohibiting the use of any chemical
or artificial additives. The tests of the varieties
and sources of chocolate, for example, lasted for
weeks before Mövenpick finally opted for Criollo
cocoa from the Maracaibo region of Venezuela –
the oldest cocoa in the world. But then doesn’t
the flavour of our Chocolate Ice Cream justify such
a lengthy selection procedure?
A similar approach was applied to the vanilla pod
from Madagascar – the attention paid to the traditional
farming and harvesting methods is reflected in the
natural extract used by Mövenpick.
Each of our ice cream flavours comes from 100% natural
essences. At Mövenpick the wonderful red of our
strawberry ice cream comes from the wonderful red
of our strawberries, and the acid tang of the lemon
and lime, the confectioner’s taste of the Black
Forest and the coffee and Macadamia nut flavours are
all part of an approach which is 100% authentic, 100%
culinary tradition. It would seem logical that, as
Nature has produced these flavours, humans should
intervene as little as possible to transmit them as
they are. That is what is meant by being at one with
the world."
The Cocktail Sunset Bar also serves some of the best coffees & Cappuccino to be found in Luxor - not least because it is produced from the finest Italian coffee beans.
